After Hours Welcomes David Rhodes

Those who come to the After Hours Film Society screenings have embraced our newest family member, organist David Rhodes.  David is an accomplished musician who spent most of his life training for his passion. The Lisle resident started taking piano lessons at age 7 and furthered his education with classical organ training at age 12, studying under Father John Palmer, C. S. V., a multi-degreed professor at Benedictine University and director for the Royal Conservatory of Music.

David was first introduced to the theatre organ experience at the age of 14 when he heard the organ interludes at the Tivoli Theatre and has since made it a part of his life.  Currently serving as the Tivoli’s house organist, David has also had a presence at the Acrada, Coronado, Pickwick, Rialto and York Theaters. He is the vice president of the Chicago Area Theatre Organ Enthusiasts (CATOE) and is on the crew for many of the organs they maintain.  In addition, he is the house organist for the George Cardinal Mundelein Auditorium at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary where he plays their 4-manual 20-rank Wurlitzer and serves as the Crew Chief for this instrument which is enjoyed by the students, faculty and especially Francis Cardinal George, Chancellor of the University. Concurrently, he is the Director of Music at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church LCMS in Des Plaines and is in the process of installing a 3-manual 20-rank theatre pipe organ in his home.

After Hours Film Society attendees are greeted by David Rhodes as he plays the 3 manual 10 rank Wurlitzer theatre organ at all of their regular programs.
